Ten years ago, Nathan led the team that built the sleepernet and pioneered the artificial intelligences known as the sleepers. After the tragic death of his wife due to an unforeseen problem with the sleepernet hardware, Nathan has dedicated his life to the safety and protection of others.
Titan is one of the most powerful of the nine supercomputers that run the sleepernet. He works directly with Nathan in matters both professional and personal. Titan's gemlike appearance reflects the vast depth of his emotions, if one takes the time to learn to read his expressions.
Suzie is a senatorial aide with extensive government experience. Her life is turned upside down when she realizes that her boss, Senator Delaware, may no longer be the same person the American people elected.
Flapjack is one of Nathan's oldest friends. There are very few things in the world that he can't build or fix. Gruff and factual, Flapjack has a talent for inconveniently accurate insights.
Kara Janek is a founding sleepernet engineer and one of Nathan's oldest friends. She decided to give up her grav suit in favor of her family and children. But does she really want to leave the old life behind?
Raj has a quick wit and a thick British accent. Optimistic and flamboyant, he's able to excel at just about anything he puts his mind to. Very few people can pull off some of the fashion he favors.
Liz is part of the medical team that developed the sleepernet implant hardware. As Reggie puts it, she's the one that puts the things in the brains. Curious and enthusiastic, she habitually gets lost in the details of an exciting discovery.
Reggie is the charismatic visionary who first recognized the potential of both the sleepernet and the team that could build it. As the chief executive officer, Reggie is just as comfortable navigating politics and the boardroom as he is piloting a grav suit.
Nathan themed his grav suit on the specter of death, inspiring fear in those living outside the law. He carries a weaponizer staff that resembles a scythe and forms protective shield bubbles. Sleeper Titan provides the computational horsepower to make it all work.
Kara's flair for the dramatic comes through in her grav suit design, featuring beam weapons that emanate from her palms and a sophisticated sensor jamming system in her cape. Sleeper Hera does the behind the scenes work to power the boosters.
Flapjack carries guns. A lot of guns. He prefers to shoot from a distance with his capacitance rifle, but pistols do the job when the fighting gets up close. He also manages a trio of semi-autonomous sniper nests to cover ongoing operations along with Sleeper Zeus.
A relentless optimist, Raj uses his tech ninja suit for stealth and trickery, appearing at just the right time to surprise and disable the enemy. Sleeper Shiva powers his suit and helps him overpower automated sentries with overwhelming bursts of code.
Liz is just as comfortable running down her quarry in her huntress grav suit as she is breaking into organizations with social engineering. She uses an energy archer to shoot her targets, venting the heat through the quiver on her back. Sleeper Artemis is her enthusiastic accomplice.
Reggie's grav suit is possibly the most advanced of the set, featuring a powerful phase cloak that allows him to disappear from reality for seconds at a time. The technology is cutting edge and not terribly well understood. He channels the waste heat into an infrared laser in the weaponizer rod he carries.
